Our Motives Matters

Hello, loyal readers! I pray that you have been learning, growing, and expanding in all your areas of influence. I believe as we journey together, we are internationally impacting others with our mindset transformations. We are attaining new perspectives that are bringing life to our ever-changing environment.

I have pondered a question that has stirred within me for a couple of days now. The question is this, “What motives have been the driving force in what I do? Before I was able to consider the answer to this question, I needed to investigate the definition of the word motive. My desire is to truly answer honestly to myself by going to the root of the word itself.

According to Oxford Languages, the definition of motive is a reason for doing something, especially one that is hidden or not obvious. Another meaning is something (such as need or desire) that causes a person to act. This last one speaks volumes. Motives are the underlying reasons for the actions you take and the words you say.

No one can tell me or you what our motives are. Many may try to understand and uncover, but the only one who can know the real reason for doing what has, is, or will be done is oneself. To understand this, first and foremost, will enable me to elaborate with you my discovery of the answer to the question.

Someone once said, “People have two reasons for doing anything- a good reason and the real reason.” It is important to have the good reason and real reason be both. Why? One will not be deceived. Sooner or later, the real reason will be exposed. Stay tuned, we will continue in the next blog!
